0 Unread Messages
Astoundingly, right now I sit at 0 unread messages in my email inbox.
To all of you Inbox Zero followers and gurus out there, that might not seem like a big deal, but this is something I’ve been whittling away at for weeks, after whittling away at it in fits and starts for years. And last night, I managed to go from over 700 unread emails to ZERO!
The number of unread messages was way worse last year, but I wasn’t keeping track back then, so I don’t really know how far I’ve come. I just know that my email is CLEAN right now, and it’s fabulous!
I’ve been at Inbox Zero before (and no, I don’t just mean when I first opened my email account!) but I never kept it that way for very long. This time, though, I think I have a pretty good system set up to help me keep it that way. It’s a new kind of experience, so I might have to tweak the system along the way, but a foundation is in place, and one that I can build upon.
I have to say, after working steadily on clearing out my email account, it feels really strange to have nothing else to do there! It’s like I want the mountains of emails back so I can have more things to delete! I guess I should get used to that sensation. This isn’t the first time I’ve gotten addicted to hitting Delete (hard drive files, anyone?), and if I have anything to say about it, it won’t be the last.
Besides, it isn’t like I don’t have TONS of other things to start clearing up! That’s the Entire Point of my Word of the Year for 2016. I just have to change my mindset and get into the rhythm of cleaning up something else. {:
So, we are now halfway through March, and true to my word, I’ve been working on making “LESS” a reality this year.
Untrue to my word, I am late sending out the newsletter again this week, so I’m obviously a work in progress. {:
