Because I was accepted into the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design, this year I’m getting involved in the Holiday Spirit craft market held in the Centre’s loft. I’m sooo excited to be doing this! And there’s only a week to go!
Doing this market has been such a roller-coaster ride. I’ve never done a market before, so it’s basically been a crash course in craft shows, like what products to have for sale, what items I need for taking sales and maintaining my booth, how to design a table, how to design a backdrop — the list goes on and on. I’ve had to do research on a printer and then do a LOT of design work to make my work ready for printing. I redesigned my business cards and other branding materials. I ordered packaging materials for my prints and figured out a packaging design scheme. It’s been very intense! And I still have a lot to do in the next week.
On top of that, I’ve also hung up 5 of my artworks for a 3-week run of a really engaging play a friend of mine is directing, AND I just took 3 original artworks to the Centre for hanging in their gallery, which is seriously wicked.
So, yea, I’ve been a busy bee! But it’s been a lot of fun. I hope if you’re in the area you can come visit me at the market!
